March 2017 – Stevie WonderFUL

1985, Radio stations in South Africa banned all of Stevie Wonder’s records after he dedicated the Oscar he had won the night before at The Academy Awards to Nelson Mandela.
Mr. Wonder, who won his Oscar for best movie song for his hit ”I Just Called to Say I Love You,” written for the film ”The Woman in Red,” said that he accepted the award ”in the name of Nelson Mandela,” a black prisoner in South Africa and future president, who fought the apartheid.
South African Broadcasting at the time, controlled all radio and television programs.
